When not to bleach your teeth
There are several reasons your dentist may advise you for teeth whitening procedure. For example, when your front teeth have been fixed by caps or crowns, which simply cannot be whitened with bleaching paste or gel. Teeth bleaching is not advisable for women that breast feed and during pregnancy. If you have cavities, known problems with your gums (sensitive gums or gum disease), or the enamel of your teeth has thinned-out your dentist may decide against tooth bleaching.
Another case where whitening might not be recommended is if your teeth have dark stains, as these are harder to bleach. The closer to yellow your teeth are the better chance to achieve good whitening results. Tooth bleaching is not recommended under the age of 16 as well.
It's always a good idea to consult a dentist regarding teeth whitening, or in case you want to whiten your teeth at home, make sure you read the label of the whitening kit you intend to use and follow the directions.
Finally, if you have chemically stained teeth by medications the results will not be the best. The teeth color can be brought back to the natural original color. |
