Composite and Porcelain Veneers Cost and Information

Composite and Porcelain Veneers Cost

There are two types of dental veneers namely the composite resin veneers and porcelain dental veneers. Porcelain veneers are made out of porcelain which is a kind of material that closely resembles the properties that of the teeth’s outer covering which is the enamel. Porcelain veneers’ outlook is smooth and impermeable. Compared to its counterpart made out of composite resin material, porcelain veneers are more durable so the porcelain veneers cost more than of a composite. Composite resin veneers might not have the same durability with porcelain. They are still considered a better option for people who want veneers. On the average, porcelain veneers cost between $700 and $2500 a tooth while composite resin veneers cost between $250 and $1500 a tooth.

Veneers Information

Dental veneers are a quick and relatively easy way to give your smile a ‘face-lift’. If you feel that you could do with improving the colour or shape of your teeth then veneers could be the option you are looking for.

Veneers are an extremely thin material (commonly made from porcelain, but now there are a different material options) individually and custom made to fit your teeth. Once the material has been measured and shaped it is glued to the front of the patient’s teeth. This achieves a radically new look for a person’s smile and can transform your mouth completely.

As this procedure has grown in popularity more and more clinics are offering this type of cosmetic dentistry to their clients. It is also a fairly swift process: generally you will have an initial appointment to discuss what you are looking to achieve and for the dentist to make a model of your teeth, then about 2 weeks after this you will return for the fitting in which the custom made claddings will be glued onto the teeth after the dentist has shaved off a minute amount of tooth enamel from each tooth. Depending on the material you use these veneers could sit comfortably in place for roughly15 years.

Composite Veneers – usually performed in a single visit with no need to numb the area as it’s pain-free. Our cosmetic dentists will place a tooth-coloured filling material directly to your tooth’s surface. This is then sculpted into the desired shape. Composite veneers can last 2-5 years with regular hygiene appointments.

Porcelain Veneers – porcelain veneers are made of a very thin, but extremely strong ceramic material. Like false fingernails – only for teeth! Usually performed in two visits. The first appointment our cosmetic dentists will trim back a small layer of the front surface of your tooth to make room for the veneer. Impressions are taken for our dental lab technicians who create the final veneer. At the second appointment the veneers are permanently fitted to your teeth. We use the best labs in the UK and US to achieve the results our patients rightfully demand.

Lumineer Porcelain Veneers – a new type of porcelain veneer, made of Cerinate porcelain, they are contact lens-thin (0.2 mm). Little to no tooth reduction is usually required with this type of veneer and hence anaesthetics or numbing aren’t generally needed.
